Swedish Foundations’ Starting Grant

A collaboration between seven private funders who believe in supporting prominent early-career researchers.

About the grant

The initiative addresses researchers based at host institutions in Sweden, who scored among the best (A) in the most recent European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant call, but did not receive funding due to the ERC’s limited budget. To be eligible, you must not have been placed on the ERC reserve list, which is funded by the Swedish Research Council.

Aim

By offering an additional funding opportunity for top-ranked applications, the initiative aims to encourage more researchers to apply for the ERC Starting Grant. Increased ERC funding for research in Sweden is beneficial both for individual researchers and for the country as a whole.

Collaboration between seven funders

The Knowledge Foundation is participating in the call alongside the Ragnar Söderberg Foundation, the Erling-Persson Foundation, the Kempe Foundations, Olle Engkvist Foundation, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond and Swedish Society for Medical Research.
